2022 New Year’s Goals

I know, I know it’s been a really long time since I last wrote a blog post. I’ve had so many plans for my blog and other aspects of my business, but life has gotten in the way. I mean it is what it is. Over the last several months I’ve undergone several life changes. I’ve moved and switched jobs. I switched jobs so that I’d have more mental energy to work on growing my business, and ended up stopping everything altogether. So my overall theme for 2022, is simplifying and consistency. I feel like I am in a significantly much better place mentally than I have been in such a while. So I don’t regret taking the time off from my blog, Instagram, and YouTube channel. I obviously needed a refresher to come back when I am ready.

As far as my goals go, I am going to keep them simple and focus on consistency in all aspects of my goals. By keeping everything as simple as possible, I have the ability to focus on a little bit at a time at a higher level. I have a habit of going all or nothing for everything I do. In order to break that habit, I am going to be much more mindful about my goals, and focus on a little bit at a time and go from there. Taking on more than I can handle at one time just makes it harder to achieve any goals whatsoever.

So as my first post back, I am going to write my goals for 2022. This post will be the first of a series of goals. I’ll give an overview of my goals for various categories. Then in separate posts throughout January, I’ll go into more details for my goals in each category.

Fitness

For my fitness goals, I am working towards building a solid foundation through consistency. I have already begun working toward this goal. Right now, I am strength training 4 days a week, cardio 2 days a week, and active recovery one day a week. Is it necessary to work out every day to be fit? No. It is not. But for me, it brings me so much mental clarity to work out and have some kind of a daily routine.

As far as nutrition goes, I am eating a high-protein diet that is fueling my body so that I have energy throughout the day. I still make sure I have a balance of carbs and fats in my diet too. I am not tracking very closely, but simply being consistent with meal prep about 95% of the time and keeping my calories approximately at my maintenance, while also allowing myself to have a little extra something (usually sweet) from time to time.

There is a lot more to my long-term fitness goals that I’ll go into detail in next week’s blog post. So stay tuned, for that! In summary, my overall fitness goals are to remain consistent with my nutrition and workouts to create a solid foundation to further achieve my fitness goals.

Health

Overall, I want to live a healthy lifestyle. By creating this solid foundation with my nutrition and workouts, I will create healthy habits that help improve not only my overall physical health but also my mental health. When I live more of a sedentary lifestyle, I tend to eat less healthy food, and my mental health declines tremendously. I feel more anxious and depressed. So focusing more on habit building right now, rather than anything else will help me continuously work toward my long-term fitness goals.

A couple of other health-related goals that I want to achieve include working with my dr for various health components such as my mental health. It will be a hard journey, but it is something that I need to do for my overall health. Stay tuned for a future blog post for my in-depth health goals.

Business

I have so many goals for my business. But for now, I am focusing on consistency and content creation. I try to do too many things at once and result in achieving burn-out and none of my actual goals. Overall, I am focusing simply on documenting my journey on my blog, Instagram, and my YouTube channel.

I have a few very specific goals for my business in 2022. Overall, I want to focus on consistency with content creation. I want to be very intentional and creative with my content. I do not want to just put something up, just because. Stay tuned for the post that goes more in-depth with my business goals!

Life

I have so many personal interests that I enjoy doing, and I constantly want to do them ALL at once. Then I end up doing them all halfway, give up and never actually finish any one thing. So, I have a couple of main big personal life goals for 2022. I want to read more, be creative and allow myself to simply relax from time to time.

I just turned 30 years old at the end of 2021, and I had a panic about all the things I haven’t done. I realized that I didn’t need to panic. I just need to embrace where I am right now. Stay tuned for my blog post that goes more in depth about my life goals for 2022.

I really hope you found this post interesting and possibly inspiring. I had so many goals in 2021 and I did not achieve any of them. Life had another path for this past year, and you know what? That is okay. My goals were really specific and I don’t know if that really hurt or helped me. I wish I knew, which. But for me personally, creating habits and consistency for these four categories is where I need to be right now.

I wrote a post at the beginning of 2021 about How to set healthy fitness goals that detail all of the various things to think about when you are setting goals. While I still stand by making sure your goals are extremely specific, for me personally sometimes simplifying goals as a starting point is the better option. I still stand by the goals I set for 2021 and I still want to achieve those goals.

If you are here and reading this, that means you have an interest in your health and fitness. That is so good; I am so excited for you! Taking care of your body is literally the best thing you can do for yourself in the present and the long term.

Do something today that your future self will thank you for

I find that quote so inspiring. Hard work will pay off in the future, but you also have to live in the moment, and I feel like taking care of yourself is doing both. You are doing good for yourself now as well as for your future self.
