Spring Outdoor Activity Ideas

The days are warmer after winter, and it feels more like spring! This gets me so excited to spend some time outside. I am a huge homebody, so I tend to stay home more often than not, especially in the winter; I absolutely do not like going anywhere when it’s cold. I am always so excited to get outside when it starts getting warm outside.

We moved into our house in September of 2022, and we have a large backyard that needs some work done. But it had a nice concrete patio already there before we moved. So I got a new patio set that I put together to sit outside and enjoy some sunshine while we finish the backyard. I am super excited to have that option for getting outdoors.

My whole mood changes when I get some warm weather and sunlight. Seasonal depression is a real thing. So as it gets warmer, I automatically think about what I can do for activities outdoors.

If you’re like me and live in a climate that gets cold in the winter, you don’t get outside very often. Then when a hint of warm weather in the springtime makes you antsy to get outside, this post is for you! Below are some ideas for outdoor activities you can do when it gets warmer outside.

Hiking

Hiking is always a great option to get outside. I wrote this post about Springtime Hiking. Mostly, it’s the same as when hiking in the summer, with a couple of other tips to be prepared for spring weather. I love hiking, but only when it is warm outside. Some people love outdoor winter activities, and some people love hiking in the winter too. That is totally not me. Warm weather is where it’s at for me!

Walking

Maybe you do not live near hiking trails, or hiking is not your thing. Just go for a walk. Walking is such an underrated form of activity.

Go to a Park

Most communities have parks. Find a park to hang out and relax in the sun!

Local Outdoor Events

Many cities, counties, and communities have outdoor events. In areas where I have lived, I have seen outdoor movies, live music, farmer’s markets, and so much more! Most communities post these events on social media and websites for whatever they may have going on. Often time’s, it may be free events too! It is a fun way to get outside, maybe as a get-together with friends or a date night on a budget!

Walk Around an Outdoor Mall

Maybe you’re not a huge outdoor person, but you love shopping. If you live near an outdoor mall, this could be a fun way to get outside!

Local Recreation Activities

Most cities, counties, and communities have many options for recreational activities like sports. So if that is your thing, check out your local recreation activities! This may be a great way to meet new people with similar interests as you!

Sit Outside

Simply sit outside. Do you have a backyard or a balcony? Go sit outside. Find a restaurant or coffee shop with outdoor seating and sit outside.

This is a super short and sweet list of outdoor ideas that can get you outside this spring! Well, even into the summer too! I hope you all are going great and thank you so much for reading!

If you are here and reading this, that means you have an interest in your health and fitness. That is so good; I am so excited for you! Taking care of your body is the best thing you can do for yourself in the present and the long term.

“Do something today that your future self will thank you for”

I find that quote so inspiring. Hard work will pay off in the future, but you also have to live in the moment, and I feel like taking care of yourself is doing both. You are doing good for yourself now as well as for your future self.
